French Fry Crawl at the Dimond CenterLast Saturday was National French Fry day and a few of us celebrated with a french fry crawl.
This makes a really fun activity for a day that needs some fun, or an evening that needs an adventure. Round up some friends or gather your family. Print out a sheet for each French Fry taster, and head to the Dimond Center.
Make a Game Plan
Make a game plan that includes a budget, which restaurants you want to include on your crawl, and in which order. Fill them in on your score sheet and get started.
First, decide on the French Fry establishments you are going to include. Next, order up your first batch of fries... judge the fries for look, crisp, seasonings, flavor, and appearance. Score them from 1 “not my favorite” to 5 “so good I’d order another batch.”
Here’s the Rules
Well, there aren’t really any rules. We took a very methodical approach, complete with super scientific things... here’s how we did it. Our party of 6 visited 3 restaurants. We ordered a total of 5 baskets of fries (whew - it was tough!) and spent a total of $40 with tip.
(1) Order the fries (be sure to include different kinds on your crawl too -- sweet potato, curly, waffle, garlic, steak fries, etc ...)
(2) Eat the fries.
(3) Spend some time with your favorite people
(4) Rate the fries
(5) There are no other rules.
A few pro tips:
1) Our family has a bunch of teenagers, and this made a really fun afternoon out hanging with them. It could also make a good birthday party activity.
2) Pace yourself! You’ll end up eating a lot of fries on this crawl, be sure to order small batches & share.
Here are some suggestions on restaurants serving fries of all kinds in the Dimond Center. If we missed any, tell us in the comments!
Need a mid-week pick-me-up? An injection of fun? A date night? An activity for the “very bored” kids? We’ve got you covered.
