CANstruction at the Dimond Center March 23-31, 2019

CANstruction is an annual event that helps stock the shelves at Food Bank of Alaska at a time when the pantry is critically bare.
When: March 23-31, 2019

What’s this event about?
CANstruction is an international design & build competition hosted every Spring in Anchorage by the architecture, engineering and construction community. Teams for the A/E/C community compete to design and build giant structures made entirely out of full cans of food. It takes months of planning and thousands of cans to create a structure. At the end of the event, all of the cans are donated to the Food Bank of Alaska!

Where:
The event is held at the Dimond Center! The teams will begin building their structures on March 22! CANstruction is free to the public, and the viewing hours are during regular Dimond Center hours.

Why should I come?
First, the structures are amazing! This year’s theme is Superheroes vs Villains, and promises to be incredible! Second, this annual event benefits the Food Bank of Alaska. All of the cans used to build the structures will be donated, plus all of the cans used to vote for the community favorite will be donated.

Last year, the CANstruction event provided 30,000 pounds of food to our Anchorage Food Bank!

Who is building the structures?
Structures are made out of full cans of food by teams representing the Architect/Engineer/Construction community.

Vote With Your Can!
Bring an unopened, unexpired can of food to vote for your favorite structure during the competition. Just place the can in the donation bin next to your choice. Cans will be tallied at the end of the event.
